WISDOM Events for November and December 2009

1) This coming Sunday, November 15th at 3:30 PM WISDOM is hosting a “Meet the Author” dessert reception for Bruce Feiler, author of Walking the Bible, Abraham and his latest book entitled America’s Prophet: Moses and the American Story at the West Bloomfield Jewish Community Center, 16600 W. Maple Road (at the intersection of Drake and Maple). Please let Sheri Schiff know if you are planning on attending the reception by emailing her at
Sheri1228@yahoo.com, as Sheri will be planning the refreshments. Following the reception, Bruce Feiler is scheduled to talk about his latest book, and WISDOM will be introducing him to the audience starting at 5:00 PM. We hope to see you at both the 3:30 PM dessert reception and the 5:00 PM presentation.


2) Tuesday evening at 7:00 PM at The Community House in Birmingham (380 South Bates Street), WISDOM will be sponsoring “Five Women, Five Journeys, How Different Are We?” as part of the Race Relations & Diversity Task Force. A panel of women from different faith traditions – Muslim, Christian, Jewish, Baha’I, and Hindu – will reflect on the changing roles and expectations of women and discuss their own personal journeys. Are they the same journey?

Come and see the Documentary
“PRAY THE DEVIL BACK TO HELL”

Learn how the actions of empowered Liberian Christian and Muslim women helped end a long violent
civil war and gave their country and children a reason to hope for a better tomorrow.

SUPPORT WINGS
In their mission to empower local women and children
to end the cycles of violence and poverty in their lives,
And give them hope for a different tomorrow!!


$10.00 cover charge per person in advance
$15.00 at the door


Our Community Service project will supply these
needed articles to the women and children participating in WINGS programs in Detroit:

1) Toiletries for the women of WINGS
(soap, toothpaste, toothbrushes, deodorant, shampoo)
2) Baby clothes (for newborns through 2 year olds)
3) Science related toys for ages 5-12
4) Pink sweat shirts and sweat pants for teenaged girls (13-17)

Our program will include:

- Registration and a Dessert Reception
- Introduction, Viewing and Discussion of the Documentary
- Presentation of Gifts to WINGS.
